Curtis Ladner “Two-Bit”
- Plays
- Lead Vocals / Harmonica / Guitar
- Served
- 1978–1989
- From
- Apalachicola, Florida
- Born
- 1951
Curtis was born in Apalachicola and has not, by any record the archive can find, spent a night anywhere else. In 1978 he tonged oysters in the mornings and sold tackle in the afternoons. He played harmonica, sang, and owned a slide guitar he could not play.
He gave the slide guitar to Roy Thibodaux at the first rehearsal and kept the harmonica. It is the only part of that night anyone in the band will describe.
He sang slowly, at the speed the town moves in August. He was the band's spokesman on the one occasion the band needed one, in 1984, and said three words.
He has been asked why it is two roughly four hundred times. The archive has asked him twice. He said "you know why" both times, and then asked whether the archive needed any bait.
On file. Still in Apalachicola, presumably. Knows why it's two fingers. Has never said. Will not say. Has been asked 400 times. Has said "you know why" 400 times.
